Plan A Romantic Valentine’s Day, Miami Style

With Valentine’s Day coming up, wouldn’t it be nice to plan something special for your #1 love? Well, we’ve got your inside track to a tropical, full-of-surprises evening with a Miami vibe. If you’re reading this from a cooler area of the country, we’re giving you lots of inside tips to turn up the heat on this special occasion. Break out the candles and the traditional conversation candy hearts, and let the romance begin.

San Francisco is famous for Dungeness Crabs, Maryland has its Blue Crabs, and Alaska is the place for King Crab legs. But if you’ve never tried Florida Stone Crabs, now is the time! Valentine’s Day is the heart of Florida Stone Crab season, which runs from October 15 through May 1. These little beauties don’t come cheap, but isn’t the love of your life worth it? They’ve got a sweet, delicious flavor and are filled with lots of delectable meat. The world famous Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant on Miami Beach will deliver crabs overnight, but the internet offers lots of different options for delivery. Your order will come packed in ice, complete with mallets for cracking the claws and delicious mustard dipping sauce.

With your main course set, all you need to do is add your side dishes for a complete meal. We recommend this delish Caesar salad, some homemade French fries and maybe some steamed artichokes with butter sauce. But what you really need to focus on is the cocktails! Here in Miami, we love our sangria. Why not try a new twist on sangria with a refreshing White Sangria. This recipe requires minimal prep and tastes absolutely divine.

Last but not least, dessert! Now if you really want to live like a local, the only thing that will satisfy your sweet tooth after Stone Crabs is Key Lime Pie. We’ve personally tried this recipe from The Pioneer Woman, and it’s delicious made gluten free or with regular graham crackers. The pie can be made in advance and chilled in the refrigerator, so that you can have lots of time with your sweetheart.

May your love grow this Valentine’s Day and may you enjoy Florida-style romance no matter where you are. You’ll always be our Valentine!
